Lasting Powers of Attorney
LPAs are legal documents designed to protect in the event of becoming incapacitated.

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) are legal documents that are designed to protect an individual in the event of losing mental capacity or becoming incapacitated during lifetime.
An LPA appoints trusted people (referred to as attorneys) to look after your affairs and make decisions on your behalf if you are unable to do so yourself. These come in two forms, one dealing with Property and Financial Affairs and the other Health and Welfare. You can complete either or both documents, although the latter is our recommendation.
Everyone, at any adult age, should have LPAs in place as it will provide assurance and assist with important decisions where one may not have the required capacity to do so. Such decisions include:
- Signing important documents
- The type of medical care and treatment required
- Moving into a care home

Our costs start from £300 plus VAT for a single LPA and £500 plus VAT for a pair of LPAs. There are additional registration fees of £82 per document payable to the Office of the Public Guardian.
